Mid-term Research Report and Workshop at the MCC Institute of Learning Research
What similarities and differences appear in the teaching of history between the Visegrád countries and the British Isles? What do students learn in a history lesson in China? How can students’ historical thinking be modeled, and which elements are worth developing?
On October 5, 2023, the Conservative Case in Education project team at the Institute of Learning Research, led by Richárd Fodor, presented its first preliminary findings.
In addition to colleagues from associated MCC institutions, external university experts, practicing history teachers, and interested parties were introduced to the CCE project’s publication, *Compass to History and Civic Education*.
The research report focused on comparing the state content regulation frameworks of history education in European and Asian countries based on a unique indicator list developed by the colleagues. Additionally, after reviewing international literature on historical thinking, the research team created a synthesized model that collects the most important elements of complex student thinking to lay the groundwork for future empirical research.
By spring 2024, several journal articles and a monograph on the research findings will be prepared, which we plan to share as an open-access e-book in addition to the print version.
